I was born in Saskatchewan, and after getting my degree in Computer Science from the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. Sharon and I moved to Calgary where we’ve been ever since. I have been a member of Wycliffe Bible Translators since 1974, and have been seconded to OneBook since 2009 where I am the donor relations coordinator and graphic designer.
I enjoy music, and use my piano playing skills for accompanying the outreach choir for Centre Street Church called the Centre Street Singers. We perform twice a month from October to May in senior’s facilities (once the COVID-19 pandemic is over).

I have worked with children and youth for as long as I can remember. My life is not complete without connecting and helping children. i have been a teacher since 1978. Over the years, I have found ways to help children and youth, who for whatever reason, have missed concepts.
My passion is helping kids acquire math and reading skills. I use a very structured approach that is skill based. I give homework if requested, providing the student does it. Some students request multiple sessions a week. I am willing to consider this if it seems to be in the interest of the student. However, I also know that time is also needed to master a concept. Often a student needs time to practice and repeat a concept. Learning does not always come quickly – especially for students who have been confused for some time. Steady repetition and intentional review are the best ways to develop mastery.
